Yeah I was pretty lucky that it was a shallow dent just in the paint, so was easy enough to repair. Had another slight boo boo yesterday and cut through the black while I was polishing the lower horn. So all knocked back again, hopefully I'll get a fresh coat on this arvo.

I did get my head stock decal on - based on the recipients last name for a bit of fun.



Also decided to start putting my own makers mark on as well.

Cheers guys, they are now sealed over and a fresh topcoat on the body. Fingers crossed that's the end of the black painting. I'll sand back over the decals and reseal to hide the edges, the poly is actually really good for that.

Are you using a rattle can Poly or a wipe on version for this?

Just Cabot’s exterior gloss in a rattle can. It’s a good product. Different to acrylic, but you can get a really nice even finish without polishing if you do two or three applications and wet sand to 1500 in between. It flattens our really nicely as it drys.

Good to know. Might have to give that run on a couple of projects and see how it goes. The rust oleum was so so but came up okay on the korean deluxe, but it neve hurts to different stuff.

Cheers John, always one of the most fun parts for me.

Couldn't help myself and gave it a buff this afternoon. Very happy with how it's coming up. There are a few small areas I want to redo as I haven't quite got all the orange peel out. But yeah, nothing quite like buffing up a black paint job





Products used in the shot here - Machine Cutting compound, SCA polish and Meguires Scratch X and a crappy ozito buffing machine + a fresh bonnet for each stage.



And a shot of the neck withe the latest coat on it - this is actually dry here, just super shiny. I had a small boo-boo with a bit of fluff I'll have to fix, but I think I'll make the Christmas deadline...just.
