Covering screw holes before filling and painting

Just curious what people have used to stop the screw holes (in this case the screw holes for the bridge on my tl kit) on their bodies getting grain filler and paint in them while doing the finish? Obviously large areas like cavities can be taped off but not sure the best way to protect the screw holes.

Toothpicks or Skewers aren't a bad idea. In the builds where I've pre drilled I haven't really worried about it to be honest. Just fill and paint, you can usually still see where the holes are and I just give them a quick clean up with the drill before assembly.

Thanks Sonic. I was planning to just drill again to clean them up but thought it was worth the question to check no one had come up with an easy alternative.
