Which pots for P90's?

‘A’ pots would get my vote too, in most situations.

Just out of interest, how do you have your tone pots wired? That is, the connections on the actual tone pot itself, not which lug it links to on the volume pot.

Even had the caps earth to the pot too.

At least you should notice some difference between 10 & 5 rather than nothing until 2-1 or 0.

It would be worth just checking the slope of the pots once removed, just to check that they are what they are supposed to be.

Update: So I tried a different pot. It was an A250k as I didn't have any 500's. The tone tapered off nicely. Just the way I wanted it, with a much larger arc of change. So I will be pulling put all the pots and upgrading them to some decent quality 500's. I'll also be trying the old Kinman trick to try and stop the volume cutoff problem when in the middle position. Wish me luck. Updates to follow.

I have just been doing some reading on this. Do folks like Kinman best for the treble bleed circuit? The only one I have ever used is the G&L...which is just a cap--super simple.

Simon explained about treble bleeds in this post: http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...t=6454&page=13. I'm going to try the Kinman version as my build has two P90's with 2 volumes and 2 tones. I've used the PBG style with a Tele I built using 50's wiring style and It sound great.

I've used the standard cap and resistor in parallel treble bleed on one guitar and that sounded fine to my ears. I've yet to try the Kinman style bleed, though I have got a Strat in pieces that I'll try it on when I put it back together. But I'm not a great one for using the volume control in mid-positions.
