A coil tap on the rear humbucker and the J Bass series mod for the neck would provide lots of sound options.

    Waz,

    Really hoping so.

Was thinking of just doing simple first off....one volume and one tone per pickup....and no switch or coil split and see where it goes.

I used that wiring on my PB-H build......

Weirdy sent me a diagram and "Coolie"still rocks.

Sounds like a nice and simple place to start.
Just looked at the photo of mine with bridge on and there isn't much room to relocate the HB pickup back towards bridge and not sure if you would really gain anything or just make it more twangy.

I deny all knowledge of such a simple layout.

I see what you mean by custom... I'ts a real hybrid of styles. Headstock is more the Fender JB5 tuning peg configuration than Stingray.
The Mahogany should look killer clear coated.
Looking forward to see how it turns out.

I have the BG-46 double neck kit....the headstock appears to be the same sweeping shape with a fifth tuning hole.

I have done a search and have not turned up a music man headstock template....but I have a number of photos.

I think the headstock will get the pointy end rounded over....I will just have to put the five tuners in place and see what space remains to hack.

    Waz,

Your four string MMB.....did you just cut the headstock yourself from your idea....or did you have a template. If you have a template may I borrow it...please. 😀

Hi Ozzie, just chucked out the cardboard box last week but it may still be in the recycling bin and will have a look. With a bit of luck I saved the template on my computer. From memory I found a really clean image of a 5 string headstock and played around with sizing until it fitted, traced that and then used a coping saw. I may still have the 'Sting Ray Bass' script saved somewhere too.

I have a Stingray 5 headstock template, (Taken from a 2004 SR5) complete with correct G string tuner placement. I can't attach the PDF, but can email if required. There may not be enough timber on the tip of your blank to use it however...
