    Wayne’s IB-1S , revamp.

Well, what to do on a lazy long weekend when there’s no new guitar to work on? That’ right, dismantle the one I have already done and do some extras. I should have put the shielding in when building, but didn’t, so away we go.
First a quick dismantle and then re route part of the control cavity. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the nut onto the end of the output jack and when I pulled out the plug, well, the output jack came out for a visit. Never mind, after a bit of extra routing, I now have pleanty of room for the nut.

Now to tackle the copper shielding, this is my second PB and I didn’t need shielding in the first build, but having 3 pick ups so close together, and one is a single , well this guitar, had the amp a hummin. Luckily I had the shielding left over from another project.

Nice job! Don't forget to lip the copper over the edge a little so it contacts the copper on the back of the cover so that it forms a fully sealed earthed box around the electrics

yes that jack mounting is a pain. I had to do some serious carving to get mine to sit right and bolt tight.

Thanks Andy, I will have to get some more shielding as I only had a small strip about 50 mm wide left. I even used up the off cuts to line the connecting holes. As it’s an easy fix, I can get back to that later.

Yeah Frankie, thanks to a little acquisition of a cordless router (for my “Gene Simmons axe bass” ) it didn’t take long, but you think that these components would have been tested in the factory before sending them out. Like the other problem with the el-cheap five way switch ,which was too tall for the thickness of the body. Never mind ,done and dusted now.
