Ive got a lp set neck i did a while back, i did this relic'd grunge front on it, esp pickups, 1meg ohm pots, bone nut and hipshot locking tuners. Ill see if i can get some pics for it. Its good but i think there as a grounding issue ahah.

Cheers, i might try to get some help with the wiring on a day off, i thought it was the bridge wire not grounded properly. But its squeals horribly still.

High-pitched squealing sounds more like a microphonic pickup. It doesn't stop when you damp the strings as it's the windings in the pickups that are vibrating. The length of wire that can vibrate is only about 5cm/2" maximum, so the pitch is high. Can happen even to wax potted pickups if the wax hasn't penetrated all the windings. High gain and loud volume normally kicks it off. Of course there are deliberately non-potted pickups, like true PAF copies, but scatterwinding of the coils makes them less likely to suffer badly from it.

It can also happen on covered pickups if there isn't any (or enough) wax between the cover and the coil to stop the cover moving with the sound vibrations.

Welcome Mr Bushy Man. Curious to know what the custom kit might be?

    Cheers, Waz
