Thanks Waz. The neck angle has been my main concern. When I first checked the neck fit to the body it was woeful. Steps you couldn’t jump over on every side. It was as if the neck and body were from two totally different makers. So I stupidly sanded shaved and filed till it looked and felt pretty. But then the light bulb lit up that I might have just ruined the neck angle. So thanks for showing me how to check it. That’ll be my next job I think

Time will tell. To be honest this kit was always a learning exercise in staining and set up etc. Playability will be a bonus.

Every build provides different challenges.

That photo shows similar 'daylight' under fret board end however mine is an even bigger gap due to sanding off the veneer and glue holding that down.

Where neck looks to be protruding a small amount forward of neck pocket it may just need a wee bit trimmed off the end that sits under neck pickup to allow it to seat better.

This is all based on visuals and needs to be cross referenced with neck break angle and scale measurements to validate reasons for making any structual changes. If structurally it needs to be left as is, that is when you should consider dialling in some cosmetic creativity to hide and disguise the flaws, which is exactly where I am at.

@ Frankie, I recall you doing similar with your baritone scratch build and @ Simon, I am happy for it to look grey for now until I see how the colour turns out. Stealth Bomber Grey might look alright afterall?

Glued the neck last night and filled some of the neck joint cracks with natural timber mate tonight but when trying to upload some photos the missus was getting cranky as it was soaking up all the bandwidth and stalled whatever she was watching on the internet. May have to let that happen overnight and post them tomorrow.

Surprised how light this kit is even with the neck glued in. Was worried it wouldn't be easy to move around trying to finish all sides at the same time but at least I don't have the extra weight to contend with.
