I'm guessing wax potting holds the coil of wire around the magnet still as if this vibrated it would induce a current in itself as it would move through the magnetic field as it vibrated. This current would not be induced by the vibrating string and would be non-musical. Noise of some frequency (much like a lot of my playing).

Good idea, she is out of range.....
I painted a set of jugs for my motorbike in the bathroom of a share house years ago, quick paint job, hours scrubbing the black off the tiles...

I guess you're never too old to learn. I can think of a couple of objects referred to as 'jugs' but not those...err jugs.

    cheers, Mark.

Got a little impatient wrt to all the bits and pieces laying around the kitchen, so decided to put it all together last night. It actually plays. With the exception of a little fret buzz in a couple of spots, it's great. Even the intonation is not far, off despite having not actually set that up yet. I'll work on both of those later in the week.

One thing that caught me by surprise was the string spacing. It's very narrow compared to my LPjnr. About 34 mm at the nut on the RC compared, to about 36mm on the LP.

Wondering if it's worthwhile changing the nut and increasing the spacing, or just live with it and adapt.?
