    Any kit ideas?

Howdy, Im looking for builds to do in the holidays does anyone have any ideas? Keep them relatively simple because i'm not a god with a soldering iron but i can work one. I've already build a Tele kit (gave it to my friend cause he fell in love with it) Sorry if i've managed to post this in the completely wrong section.

I'm starting to like the R-3HB kit from TheFretWire.com have you heard anything worrying about their kits? also do you recommend a black finish, Cheers!

If you're not wanting too much soldering - the R-3hb isn't going to be your friend. Three humbuckers, three way switch, two tone and two vol pots means you'll have quite a few solders to do (somewhere around 20 odd solders). They're also charging $95 US to ship to Australia, so downright extortionate. If you're looking for something a little different - how about a DM-1 https://www.pitbullguitars.com/shop/...ic-guitar-kit/ ?

The DM-1 kit seems quite expensive (because i don't have any of my own pickups to put in) but it looks quite nice although i'm looking for something on the cheaper side. i'll definitely have a crack at that kit sometime in the future

Confusing ordering process and it may come with a black pickup for $195 but for an extra $30 you get chrome pickup and hardware upgrade = $225 all up delivered anywhere in OZ.

Good simple kit due to bolt on neck plus just one pickup and no switches. Bonus is the flame maple veneer over mahogany.

GTL-1B with chrome hardware for $175 is best value. Acknowledge it is another tele but it has better looking Ash body compared to most other kits.

    Cheers, Waz

Yes the ordering process is quite strange. Thanks for helping make sense of it Waz. Now i've figured it out i realise that its not really that expensive and i really like the look of it! not sure what kind of finish i would want on it though ? do you have any suggestions?

Stain any colour of your choice as there would be lots of nice timber grain to show off.

Reds, golden or natural tones seem most obvious yet some folks tend to like more earthy brown tones too.

For a newbie would suggest steer clear of blues & greens as blue seems to be the hardest colour to get right without ending up with some shade of green by accident.

After about a month of thinking i know which kit i'll be getting... The TL-1 its another tele but i'm going for a more classic design this time. Afterwards ill be a making a slightly trickier kit most likely a bass because I've only got an Ibanez acoustic bass and i HATE the neck on that thing.

Nice kit. I have been eyeing that one off for ages and never pulled the trigger.

Ticks lots of boxes.....P90's, Semi Hollow Body. plus tremolo. Can't wait to see it come to life.

    Cheers, Waz
