Just joined the forum after receiving my PB PRS Hollow body kit today.
This is my second kit build - the first was a cheap Chinese SG copy. That was a major challenge in getting the finish done (had three cracks at it). It was worth it though, as I learned heaps about all aspects of guitar construction and setup on particular.
Apart from the finishing, I spent a lot of time adjusting the action and getting the neck and frets right - this paid off big time. That guitar nows plays better than most off the shelf brands and almost as good as a genuine gibson (according to my Gibson owning and very good guitarist brother in law at least). Soundwise, the pickups aren't great, but I upgraded the cheap pots with an after market Jimmy Page wiring kit which expands the tonal range massively. Will probably upgrade the pickups sometime (it will become my test mule), but just having fun with it for now.
The Pitbull kit is a bit of a step up in terms of the quality of timber (hardware is only average, but hey for the price, I'm not complaining). Looking forward to working on a flame maple veneer, although a little puzzled by how to address some issues with its (lack of) thickness.
