Hi all, Ive been playing around with some 3mm black acrylic and cut out the backplates for my RGA7. I cut them out with a dodgy cheap (green shed) coping saw and shaped up with a flap disc on the grinder. i did it safely with a steady hand. (inc. few beers lol)

anyway, then i got cocky and thought i would fix the scratch plate on another, older RG 110 known as my 'Shed' guitar.....

My 1986 Ibanaez Roadster II - RG1110 'was' may shed guitar as it plays real nice when needed. the scratch plate was broke near the jack input so i thought i could 'make' a new one with the left over black acrylic i have.
1st attempmt was very bad , but 2nd time round i think is ok. much learning to do.. heres some pics.
When i took the original scratch plate away it revealed a body designed for more pups. mmmm bad thougt$

so after a few hours carefully filing and sanding the egdes , think its looks ok. i havnt polished edges just 1200 wet rub and the countersinking is pretty bad atm, hoping black texta and screws in will look good. Lemon Oil on the board a few times and a good clean , new strings coming , happy days

What type of timber do you think it is? Some of the grain suggests Ash?

    Not 100% sure Waz?
Pretty light whatever it is, maybe ash or basswood? Might get a better idea when the face gets stripped back.
I have a plan in mind which will be a solid colour, long way to go yet.

    cheers Guvna

Fully understand as there are multiple mismatched planks of timber.
