I did think of that Simon, but the lens that goes with that will then create fit issues into the substrate, even if I try to trim that down, it’s going to be as much, if not more fiddling than what I’m attempting.
Sadly work commitments are cruelling my available build time at present.😳😭

And I'll be sitting here watching and looking for development ideas to upgrade mine or build another. :-)

Just trying to machine the brass block for the Preamp faceplate. If i can get that sorted in the next couple of weeks, then i can start building templates to rout the side mount and battery box cavity.

Well, the preamp faceplate is proving difficult and fiddle, so I’ve shoved that to the side for now.
I have prepped routing templates for the preamp and the battery box, but for obvious reasons, I’m going to have to psyche myself up for hacking yet more holes into this body.

So I thought I’d take care of another issue that had been bugging me, the fact that the neck pup couldn’t fit with the neck in it’s proper position.

So. Here’s how it started out
After marking out where the end of the fretboard needed to be in relation to the PuP cover, and marked this on masking tape at the end of the fretboard

It was some quick work with a fretsaw to cut down through to the neck and some clean up with a sharp chisel.

A bit of works with some CA and some masking tape, et voila! Binding cap back in place.

Then Igor got silly. OCD wouldn’t allow either of us to rest with the neck end sitting proud of the fretboard. So.....

Well, it ain’t called the FrankenLab for nothing eh?

There is a little acetone tidy up to do to blend the corners properly, but I’m reasonably pleased with how this has worked out.

Now that that is out of the way, the only thing left to fiddle before tackling the routing of additional cavities and electrickery set up is sorting out the bridge blank, as the kit one is, sadly, but not surprisingly, rubbish.

    Yes, very nice work!
What advantage is there in your approach compared with the simpler way around the problem of slightly extending the pickup well (red XXX) ?

Suppose if you have those sort of tools, why not. Turned out great and looks very professionally done.

No real advantage mate, in the provisional measure I’d worked out that moving it back would have impacted on the cover.
The other option was to make another pup ring with a cut out, but I thought that might look a bit dodgy.
And I always end up doing things the hardest way possible. 🤪🤯
