    Nicks TL-1 && STA-1 Build

    This is my First time with Guitar kits, I have done simple guitar build (if you call them builds) e.g. changing a neck, putting on machine heads, adjusting the action and adjusting the intonation. Therefore I decided to start off small and choose to build two at a time, risky I know but I want to do it, what could possibly go wrong.

    I bought the STA-1 and the TL-1 Guitar kits

    Because the Ash wood on the STA-1 is so nice I decided that I am going to stain it brown, unlaquared.
    The TL-1 is going to be mahogany red, with a gloss finish.

    I still need ideas on the headstock shape, hit us up with a good custom design headstock.

    Wish me Luck.
    Nick

    Nice choice of kits! I'm increasingly tempted by the TL kit, but really don't have the time or money lol

    Look forward to watching your builds

    Hi Nick. Personally I'd be wary of staining and having no finish at all on the wood. The stain's very likely to come off on your clothes and hands when you get sweaty. Making the guitar look patchy and your clothes messy. I'd suggest a light finish of something, maybe a couple of coats of a satin varnish spray, just to keep the stain locked in.

    Guitars have been Stained

    Just finished the Stain on both Guitars I also decided to seal both the Guitars because was told about the problem with unsealed stained Guitars (so not as I originally planned), however I still got to sand back the finish since it has gotten some lumps in the process.

    The ST-1 turned out nice but the TL-1 need a bit more work, any suggestion for the TL-1 or does it look good how it is?

    Thanks for the Support, the next step is shaping the head stock.
    Nick.

    Yeah, you're right, I should add the finish. Thanks Simon.
