Well, it’s together and nothing can put it asunder, now. Otherwise it’s a new kit and start again.
    With old friend for company.

Thinking of putting a plate a la Fender at the neck heel, there’s not a lot of wood to wood contact and the bottom of the neck pocket is pretty thin. Anyone else done this or is it not a problem?

Nice. I like my RCA4 and the sound great. Still struggling with the action on mine as the neck angle was a bit too flat. Considering routing the body and dropping the bridge into the body a little to fix it...

Live with the little imperfections or keep going with the wipe on poly and green scotch pad?

As it's quite thin, a standard plate would only weaken it further (because of the screw holes). You'd need an oversized plate that was a fair bit wider than the heel dimensions, so that it would spread the load to the thicker parts of the body to the sides of the neck joint.

I'd live with the imperfections in the finish for now, add a few more layers, then leave it to dry and cure for a few weeks. You should then be able to sand it down flat and polish it up. Don't try and sand it too soon, because the finish really won't be hard enough.

Finished and playable, just a few little set up tweaks to go.
