    Rca 4 neck pick up

    Hi all
I am currently working on an rca4 bass kit.
The rca also a neck humbucker pickup... when the pickup came out of the kit it was a black plate holding the silver p/u with two screws and springs...once im ready to install the p/u proper do i seperate both the black plate and p/u so that the pick gaurd can sit on (so the black plate sits on top of the pick gaurd installed before the pick gaurd goes on to the body)?

Hey Burton. I haven't done one of these. Are you talking about the pickup ring?

In this photo its the plastic surrounding the pickup

If so then you would want the ring on the top of the scratch plate, yes. So you would need to take off the adjusting screws and springs to mount it in the plate.

If you can post a picture of the parts you are talking about that would really help.

    Hi BB,

Quite simply, unscrew the black mounting ring already on the pup and then replace that ring with you pickguard, the pickguard is now the mounting ring, don't forget the springs for height adjustment.
    Hopefully that makes sense.

I just found this pic and yes it looks like it needs to come apart and be assembled back into the scratch plate.
