Custom Tele build scheduled for this year.

    Hey Everyone,

I've got a custom Tele build scheduled for this year which I'm excited about, I found a nice Alder Tele body that comes pre-finished in Butterscotch Yellow on eBay and it looks like my Andoer all maple Tele neck should fit nicely in the neck pocket, once I've got everything I need I'll start a build diary for it so I can document the process....stay tuned.

Okay, so here's what the body looks like:

Now one question I'd like to ask you all is which colour scratchplate would look best on it, black or white?, I'm going with all chrome hardware though.

Here's the neck that's going on the Alder body:

It's got a 16 inch radius on it which is much flatter than a vintage 50's Tele, which were usually 7.25 inches, the bone nut I'm going to be fitting to the neck seems to be compatible with the fretboard radius so that's a relief, the nut trench does need to be deepened a bit cause it currently looks like the 1st fret action is going to be miles too high.

Here's a pic of the Telecaster body I recently bought on eBay:

Here's a pic of the three-saddle bridge and tortoiseshell scratchplate that's going on the custom Telecaster:

Sound like fun! Tough call on the pickguard; I can imagine both white or black looking good. Maybe hard to know til you get the neck on and see what the colour’s like in person?

Yeah I could spruce it up a bit and go with a pearloid scratchplate if I can find one, I reckon the maple colour is going to go well with the Butterscotch Yellow on the body, I'm thinking of going for a 50's vibe, I'm un-decided on whether I'll go with a three-saddle bridge or a six-saddle bridge, from looking at the back of the body, the strings feed through the back of it.

Nice looking body. My pick would be a black pick guard.

    Build 4 - The Sonicaster TL-1ish

Hey Doc. There are plenty of pickguard choices available on AliExpress. Lots of wild colours that you probably never thought existed. Give them a look see for some ideas.

Cheers for that, I'll give that a try.

Thinking of calling it the "Doc-A-Caster".

Yep, same for a TV Yellow Tele too, I wonder if a Black Pearloid scratchplate would look cool?

All personal choice. For some reason I hate any pearloid (and also polka dots), but I wouldn't suggest that you shouldn't if you wanted to.

I don’t think it’s all that unusual to hate polka dots. I would recommend staying away from Yayoi Kusama exhibitions though...
