Ok, after the 180p sanding we’ve got some minor blemishes to deal with. One is a hairline crack that we chased a little with sanding but found it was not coming out and we were creating a slight depression that we’ve had to smooth out.
It’s on the side of the body, at the lower main curve (under where the P-bass tone/vol/jack route is), so it’s not typically visible.
We’ve done two attempts at Timbermate natural filler, leaving to dry for a day each time, and after each dry we lightly sanded with the 180p and still found the crack. We’ve done one last attempt at a fill, this time adding a tiny bit of water to try to allow the filler to really get into the gap, but it is very narrow. Here’s the pic:
So, thoughts, anyone? Is this something that will disappear with the finer grit sanding and finishing? (We’re going with Dingotone stains, plus probably a wipe on poly, or if not lots of coats of Tru-Oil)
Also, on the back of the body, roughly opposite where the bridge would be on the front we have a tiny hole that we also chased a bit with sanding to no benefit - I almost suspect it is like a burrow hole for some tiny grub or wood worm. We’ve sanded as far as we think is sensible. It really is a fraction of a millimeter in diameter. Should we concern ourselves with it or let the finishing process deal with it? See what you think here (it’s very close up, the hole is in the illuminated area, about half way from the centre to the right side)
Thanks in advance to any replies!
