I actually do have a non-reverse firebird body being made at the moment by Rosser guitars in NC, but it’s routed for a Tele neck, not a strat one.
If I decide not to put the new neck on the JZ-1, I’ll try it on my J. Mascis Squier...

Your call. Personally I prefer the look of rosewood fingerboards, and the maple colour clashes with the cream pickups a bit. But that's just my preferences.

Decided not to change too many things at once, so I just put in the toneriders and the Squier vibrato...
The Toneriders are nice!
The vibrato still needs more space. I can feel it catching on the cavity. That’ll teach me to try and do it without a router/Dremel. Just scraping wasn’t enough. Hah.

Oh... important note for anyone wanting to replace the neck on one of these Jz-1 kits...
The neck that comes with the kit has a significant built in tilt... even with a credit card depth shim, the bridge is nearly screwed all the way to the body (with the kit neck, it was a lot higher... so much so the pickups that came with the kit were almost as high as they could be with the included springs).
The action is amazing with the new neck though, no buzzing, etc.
I decided to put something on the headstock after all.
