I spotted these fender violin tuners on instagram - maybe a bit tricky a 6 string but would certainly be different!

Thats pretty interesting. Might be tricky to work with given the shape of the headstock, but this is certainly food for thought.

Huh! that's a great idea. I might just use that.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input, not much happening on this one yet, but I am accumulating a lot of different odds and ends. Most of which I probably won't use...

That's pretty cool. I have some ideas for decals on it as well. I'm just waiting for some bits to turn up before I start really thinking about it. I have orders for a nautical theme, so that will be the general direction.

Slowly fiddling around with this. I'm still not 100% settled on what I'm going to do...

I did have some stuff arrive finally after a long delay over Christmas. These are casts off antique furniture you can buy online from a company in Tasmania. Silly me thought I was getting resin casts, but they are actually latex - so they are squishy and floppy - not ideal for finishing over! The good news is that they will be perfect for making my own resin casts in a firmer material. I plan to do a brass gild or similar finish on them at this stage.

A bit of mucking around, the flourishes on the side here look cool, but I think they will obstruct the knobs to much - and I'll have to cut reliefs in them.

I ummed and ahhed over the bit where the bridge goes - not much real estate there - so what I'm going to do is make a hinged cover with a clasp that folds over the bridge and have the flourish on top.

You can see some of the pencilling work here - I'm thinking a brass scratch plate (or faux brass at any rate) to tie into the bridge cover. I'm also going to reshape the horns

Anyway, I'm not going to start chopping stuff up until the SG is a bit more finished so lots of time to keep fiddling.

    Headstock idea...dunno about it yet.

Cheers, I'll keep it in mind. I'm going to do the second hand, Op and tip shop circuit and see what I can come up with.
