Angry Let's get this Diary Started TL-TH1A

    Hi guys,

Actually started the build about 2 weeks ago with (learning) sanding & more sanding, watching youtube videos and doing more sanding.

I tried a natural stain on the basswood body (top side) but after 2 coats wasn't happy with the paleness of the wood.

I went on to a Danish Oil and that gave it a tad more colour but went out on a limb and tried a Walnut Satin stain which started to give me a bit of depth at last. I wanted to keep a nice wood tone on this 1st build after seeing several Fender Thinlines.

I took the neck to a friend (thanks Felix) who gave me a start with the headstock. I decided to go with the Thinline Deluxe Strat style. I took the rough shape to another friend with a bench sander.... WINNER! A lot of work with files & heavt grade sandpaper and I had a pretty decent looking headstock.

Once I had a fair colour on the face of the body, I flipped it and started work on the back. This time I chose a cedar stain. Several coats were all that I needed (actually I took it one coat to many). I started covering with Danish Oil. Of course I sanded between each coat, starting with 600 grit and up to 1200 for the last few. Still a few coats to go as there a sections on the sides that are still soaking up the oil. The body is just beginning to shine after about 5 coats.

Thats a pretty sexy kit. Keep the pics coming. I find it better to upload to a hosting service like Imgur and hot linking the photos in your post. I can post up instructions on how to if you like.

Hey Jeff, unfortunately you can't post an album under the IMG tag. You can link to it with by replacing the imgs with urls.

Hey Mate, you tried to post a link to the entire album. You need to copy the address for the individual pics and then ad the "img" code either side. If you click on the individual image in your library, you should get a box with a bunch of different codes on the side - I use direct link out of habit, but they've since included a version that already has the "img" code on it so you can copy and paste that directly. Also a good idea to choose the 'large thumbnail' option to keep them to a reasonable size for the forum.

I've linked a few here for you - some great work happening!

I don't bother adding comments on Imgur, do that in your forum post. If you quote this comment you'll see what I mean.

    Hi there Kitty

Thanks Sonic. I just retried your method and got it to stick. Spent a bit of time exploring the IMGUR site and sort of got it to work following your method. As you can see from above it worked. Thanks for your help.
