Stoked it has arrived! The spalted top and headstock look fantastic and there is some interesting patterns in the ebony fretboard as well. The neck pocket isn't super snug though there is no play and it looks pretty staight and holes look spot on to the eye.

There was only one thing that concerned me which was the straight edge I ordered with the kit only fit the first 4 frets on the 24.75"scale, which it is, but lined up with the first 5 on the 25.5" scale. I haven't straightened the neck or tested the trussrod yet so im hoping this is due to the slight downward bow in the neck and that it should be good once straitened.

Thanks to Adam and the team for their great service and for a speedy delivery can't wait to get into it.

Hi BW, I'd check the neck is flat and re-check the dimensions. Looking at the picture the distance difference between 4 & 5 and 5 & 6 don't appear right (this could be an optical illusion of course). Are you measuring from FB edge of the nut to crown of fret ?
Nice looking kit with the fingerboard grain and lovely spalt.
Did you go to the Supercars event in Newcastle 2 weekends ago ?

It does look a little like birds eye Dedman, very pleased with it.

I measured in the center of the fretboard Wokka, never used one before so not sure if I'm doing it right. No unfortunately I didn't make it in to the V8s had free tickets but was struck down with tonsillitis but could hear it as clear as at my place and watched most of it from bed.

Hi BW, no worries that's a bummer you missed the event was probably best event I've been to in probably 30+ events will be going next year for sure.
    @ Dedman is the neck a 24.75" scale ?

@ BW can you place the bridge in position and measure FB side of nut to say D and G saddle and post the distance ? cheers

I straightened the neck and checked again though still didn't make much difference. Hard to see from the photos.

I also checked on an old greg bennett interceptor which is supposed to be 25.5" and it didn't line up now I'm doubting the straight rule.

I'll do those measurements now Wokka, thanks mate.

I think you might find that first notch is designed to sit over the first fret, rather than over the nut. That seems to be how it works with the stew mac version I have, or else i have a similar dud rule.

BW one of the pics looks like the frets are sitting in the slots ok and it's touching the fingerboard.

Maybe check the fret ruler on another guitar to check the ruler is ok.

Once we establish the scale length we can check the fret distances using the link below

@ Franky looks like there is a slot for the nut if you look at the opposite side of the ruler, so it probably looks like its sitting ontop of the nut.
