Blacker than Black Stump

For those who might be into alternative finishes bordering on industrial I may have found something blacker than black stump.

Below shots show what has kept me occupied and away from guitar building for more than a month.....it started out with repairing a section of the back fence which also resulted in replacing the treated pine sleeper retaining wall it was sitting on.....whilst painting the sleepers with a new age Creosote that is more environmentally friendly, plus BGSFOS no longer stocks the dangerous stuff, couldn't help thinking this would be a great product to use if you wanted blacker than black? Perfect on a weathered, distressed, industrial looking job....

This was after 1 coat.

Now after 2nd coat....


Still had a sticky feel to it as I was placing sleepers in their respective places and would need plenty of clear top coats if used on a guitar.

Definitely not for necks as it builds up quite thick and probably wouldn't feel right. But then again, a very light 1st coat may work.

I used the stuff full strength and it can be diluted down according to manufacturer's web site.

provided it eventually dries tack free (unlike creosote) I can't see why not.

It looks like a top coat will work. When next using some Tru Oil will use an off cut to see how it comes up.

That colour should be called "Smell The Glove"...

I'm sure I used this to seal a concrete pond I made in 1986, it was clear back then. The pond was what sold the house to new buyers, who then filled it in so their child didn't drown.
