Everyone is dead on.. the bridge pup rout needs to be enlarged to move the bridge for intonation and you shall toothpick those pickguard holes. Almost all TL build diaries show this fault with the design

Go on.....make it a string through sonic....you know you want to......

Really there are stacks of mods I could do, but I'm just trying to knock this one out so it can go to its new home and I can get on with some new builds.

Glad I'm not crazy regarding the bridge route. I did change it in the offset designs as it just didn't seem right, its nice to confirm in a physical sense as well.

Well I've been priming and sanding all week. Did the surfacer undercoat last night. All go for colour and clear today....shook the stupid can up, but didn't do a test spray and got a nice big glug of suspension medium across the back.... so I guess I'm sanding and priming the back again.Doh!

Can't wait to get a better painting setup organised and start using the gun.

After yesterdays stuff up I managed to turn it around and get some colour on this morning.

Hard to get a nice pic, but I think it will come up well. I may do another coat of clear, but I'll let it hang and get really dry and hard before deciding if it needs it.

Now I just need to find some time to do the neck.

Yeah its a more a cyan than straight blue, but shifts depending on the lighting. Again, its not as good as I know I can do, but I'm just pushing to get this one done. Should look good polished and assembled.

So turning attention back to the neck. I shaped the headstock a little while ago. Gone for something a bit out there

I am much happier with the alignment of the tuner holes on this neck. Totally acceptable.

How are people approaching this style of neck and fret board with finishing? Gloss over the whole lot? Then removing it on the frets with a crowning file I guess? or can I gloss the neck and headstock and oil the fret board like the shoegazer? I'm just wary of it looking grubby with use if I do that....

Sonic maple necks you can wax or oil the fingerboard. I use orange oil keeps it moist and feels good to play.
