Yes Magician was great, also liked the later Krondor novels as well as the Empire Series, with Janne Wurts

I've read one of Janne Wurts books, it was called Shadowfane, pretty cool, it sort of reminded me of the Hobbit series by J. R. Tolkien.

Hah ha. All good, I was an active participant in that thread derailment.

Hopefully have something guitar related to post a bit later (I'm supposed to be working right now, so once I get that out of the way I have a pretty free day.)

Well its wired up as per the updated wiring, but something isn't right. With the push/pull in I get nothing but a an earthing buzz. It goes away when I touch the bridge, but no output from the PU's. If I pull it up I get noise from all the PU's, a bit of a hum from the singles (to be expected) and both coils of the humbucker going. I can select the HB on its own, next position gives me HB and middle appears to give me all of them as does the next 2 positions.

So I guess back to the drawing board. I'm guessing its the 5 way switch causing confusion.
It getting a bit warm in the shed so I might leave it and come back this arvo.

I just strung it up to see how it sounds. Still nothing with the Push/Pull in but buzz. With it out, the Humbucker sounds terrible, really thin and peaky. When in the other positions with the singles selected its sounds OK, bit the three forward positions on the switch are exactly the same.

    Its definitely not right anyway.

Going to take a break and then come back and work through the wiring again.

If possible, post a photo of the wiring. That'll give us a point of reference. It may be the switch isn't working the way we thought but it seems like there may be other things amiss too.

I've just had another go at it. I've no idea what's going on. I can see all the internal contacts in the switch and it looks like it should work as you've drawn it. I've swapped in a normal pot for the volume, just to simplify things down and to rule out that component as a problem. Still no good. I just burnt the tip of my left hand index finger and decided to walk away and calm down a bit. I'll have another go a bit later and post some pics then.
