I had a few goodies rock up today - one of which is this bad boy I've had on back order for a while. Pretty excited to bring this guitar back to life.
Now I just have to work out what the heck I'm going to do on this end. Seems ripe for some kind of splitting arrangement...... Could I use a push/pull volume to split the humbucker and then add a second toggle for front/back coil?
Its all learning, suggestions welcome, this is new territory for me.

What do you want to achieve with the controls - coil split humbucker, and not sure what you mean front/back coil ?
you have a volume and tone knob haven't you so you could put 2 push pull pots in, instead of adding a toggle switch

The neck and centre PUP's are Bensons, the humbucker is an Entwistle.
I actually don't really know what I want to achieve (or what I'm doing to be honest) - I just want to expand my knowledge a bit in regards to customising electronics, so I'm very open to suggestions/ideas. Doing a push pull for both pots is a good call.
So as far as I know, splitting the humbucker essentially turns it into a single coil - can you choose which of the coils (neck/bridge) is active? Can you flip between them? After playing the Tele for a while I am liking the idea of a single coil option in the bridge position...
I just ordered stuff that seemed interesting to play with, I tend to learn by jumping in and just doing. I'm going keep the exisiting 5 way switch as it is very industrial in construction and works fine - but I'll need new pots and a capacitor at the least... so direction on that would be great as well as its all a bit baffling for a newbie.

no worries Sonic, there are many options if you have 2 push pull pots, which you might as well order if you haven't already.
With coil splitting the humbucker you will have to choose which coil turns off (so bridge or neck side) and when you pull the pot it will kill one side of the humbucker, usually you would kill the neck side and leave the bridge side active.
I'm far from a wiring expert too, so be best for Weirdy to chime in. There should be a way to run the pups out of phase when in position 2 and 4 on the switch. Weirdy is currently getting over an injury so not sure how often he is checking the forum.
Maybe to start with I'd concentrate on coil splitting the humbucker, then with Weirdy's help can work out what we can do with the other coil split.

With two push/pulls working in combination you can have all options for the humbucker: series humbucker, parallel humbucker, north single coil, south single coil. The world would be your mollusc.

It's using different pickups but the way the bridge volume and tone are wired in this diagram is basically how it's done. The diagram's neck vol/tone includes cap switching for the neck pup, so the bridge wiring is the one that's relevant to you (it's using SD colours so you'll need to tweak it for the Entwistle).
