    Howdy from Melbourne

    Howdy all,

First time builder from Melbourne, have just ordered my RCA-4. My only concern at the moment is how to treat the binding when sanding & coating (unsure of finish yet). Looking forward to exploring possible mods & upgrades for the Christmas holiday project.

Welcome Gribbit. Binding isn't too much of an issue. Polish it with 0000 steel wool after you have sanded the body and it will usually be relatively easy to clean it up afterwards.

Hi Gribbit, welcome to the club.

I'm about to "attack" my first project, TL-1TH, and have been checking the forums about how to begin. Interesting question re the binding, as I had the same concern. I actually have a bit of a scratch on the top edge of my binding and was wondering how to smooth it out.

Thanks to Fretworn for the advice.
