Was looking really good up until this point. Lucky it is on the back and therefore not as obvious.

After a near miss for me one time I’ve taken to always putting a chunk of wood into the cavity before drilling/clearing a hole, just in case. It’s always going to happen at some point... doesn’t lessen the pain though.

Perhaps make a magnetic mount cover plate and turn the oops into the notch to pop it? Or, if you can bear to do it, make a new cover slightly enlarged on just that side and carefully rout the extra couple of mm’s to remove the gouge.
    Scott.

Yeah, that sounds like the go, a wide-ish half moon thumbnail to pop off a magnetic cover plate. You could make up a wooden cover to match the rear or a contrasting one matching the front.

Or you could leave it as is and wear it as a badge of dis-honour? (and a lasting reminder for 'next time').

    cheers, Mark.

So other than making a rear cover I am calling this done.
Struggled with how to do a nice logo as is for my Aunt, and missus suggested a name pendant, so ordered one of ebay and paid a massive 20c for a couple of fine screws from an Optometrist and really happy how it turned out.

So next up on the bench is the attached.
What started as a single kit build to keep busy while going through some personal stuff has turned into a swagload of kit builds ( only the "Ziltoid" to finish once i can bring myself back to working on the neck again ) and now full scratch builds.
    Totally hooked now.
