    Tony's Second Scratchy

So decided to make a Tele awhile ago from Qld ample with a nicely figured Maple droptop. After leaving sitting for awhile the timber cupped a little so decide to run through the thicknesser. Got the back flat and when I turned it over and ran through again to level the top, totally stuffed the top. Was chunked out nearly to the total thickness and wouldn't be able to be repair the top so was put away.
After leaving for awhile a member of the family asked for a guitar and wanted flower stickers or something similar on it so decided to do a cloth top.
Filled the chunked out sections of the top with timbermate and glued some floral fabric on.

after watching a swagload of youtube clips on fabric guitars taped up the cavities and edges to form a dam and then epoxy filled. Once it had dried for several weeks began the process of getting flat. had to file down the epoxy at the edges and around the cavities as the epoxy formed a reverse miniscus on the tape. once that was relatively flat began working through wet and dry to get fairly level. To get a nice edge using a white pearloid binding

Clamped the body down and routed the channel for the binding before gluing the binding on.

For the neck using a piece of Blackwood and some Maccassar Ebony for the fretboard. Decide to do an inlay (ebay) so slotted board and have started the process of cutting the inlay cavity.

Thanks guys been awhile since i looked at this thread (or did any work on this guitar)
Andy routed with dremel and base. Done a few now and not as pants filling an operation as it used to be. Still required a bit of finessing though to fit.
Started making a neck from blackwood and over this weekend should hopefully have the fretboard inlay finished and slotted and glued to neck.

Managed to get some time to fit the fretboard (messy gluing used too Much) and then shaped the neck profile and Headstock.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.
