Thread: November Guitar of the Month Competition

  1. #51
Hi, I would like to put forward my new bass build ... its the six string bass, but I have made it fretless. I have replaced the pots with rosewood ones, but other than that its as the kit came. I have used wudtone finish and lemon oil on the fretboard. I hope that you like it Click image for larger version.

It seems the heavy enders have been busy this month... Another really nice job there from Rupert.

nice IB-6S build Rupert. It's a pity your photos are letting you down a bit. Try for some photo's in full natural light so we can see it better. The wooden knobs are a nice touch but personally they are a bit too big and the controls look cluttered.
What have you used to fill the fret slots looks like grain filler ? Some thin wood strips or thin white binding would have looked better.

    Rob's LP1S

    Hi Everyone,
here's my entry for this month ... it's an LP1S, which I've taken my time with.
I've added Grover tuners and EMG 81/85 Active pickups, as well as some wood nobs I found to replace the usual ones.
Finish is DT Black Stump on the body and neck, with DT colourless (mixed with a little bit of black) on the top.
    Final coats done with TO.
Nice to play and sounds good too!

Hi Woks, yes I was lucky that everything fitted into the cavity. It's a snug fit, but meant I didn't need to fit a battery box.

good stuff Rob, just don't forget to unplug the jack after playing it or you will have a flat battery. So the EMG's sound pretty crisp and bright ?
Also looks like a bone nut ?

The nut is the one that came with the neck, maybe a future upgrade!
EMGs sound great, whisper quiet. They do sound crisp too ...
