Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

I wonder if it'd be worth seeing whats under the chrome plate on the stuff in the kits

Chrome plating's hard to remove but it will probably be alloy on some bits, brass or steel on others. You could test with a magnet for the steel items.

Gold plating comes off with a single application of metal polish and a good rub to reveal the chrome underneath. I've done that on the original parts on a couple of guitars where I couldn't get a nickel or chrome replacement part but was swapping out from gold hardware to nickel.

Nowhere near perfect, but it does look the part...

Rear binding done and dried. Front denim glued and drying...

You know what? That actually looks really good. I will admit I'm still disappointed you didn't have a pocket included, but great work regardless.

    Thanks guys...

The hardest part is finding the right piece of denim... in this case the legs from a pair of jeans sized for a 10yo child. Adult sized denim has the stitching separated by too much material, and pockets aside I think the stitching is near half of what character denim has....

Of course you could never plug a working-man denim-clad Tele into a high-class Tweed amp - unless it liked a bit of rough.

Well that does it then.....Black face or silver face only! Tweed would be way too posh.

Don't care much for the whole 'posh' stuff.... but there are plenty of those that have, and more of those that have-not...

My gut tells me that this build will sound best through a Tweed amp.... However for as long as it stays in my hands the best it will ever see is a small Vox copy into a 2x12 Celestions cab or an ultra flexible 100W Marshall JVM combo...
