If you can handle Randy Travis stuff have a look through the Clint Black body of work Summers Coming is quite upbeat too, also the Mavericks have some nice stuff that we cover.

For storytelling songs you can do far worse than Guy Clark and Graeme Connors.

I'm sure I can come up with a heap more but I'm about to wander out and explore the streets of Monte Carlo, incredibly expensive place so I'm glad we're not here for long

Thanks Dave, I've always been a Clint Black fan, and we talked about using his duet song "Bad Goodbye".
I've had Graeme Conners suggested to me very often, but I've never taken the time to look into his songs. Will have to do that.

    Done and Dusted!!
Wow, what a long day. We met up at Debbie's daughters place for a final run through prior to heading to the studio.

Sorry, but I didn't get any better photos of the studio, but it's a converted shed, and while he only does this as a hobby, Jerry is very professional, but casual and easily puts you at ease.

Hopefully the video works, let me know if you have any issues. You can hear the click track in the background which was a very different experience.
We laid down a scratch track with both guitar and vocals, where the guitar was the most important bit, then we'd create a clean vocal track over the top of that. Whiskey Lullaby was the longest take, with quite a few re-takes and additional tracks if harmonies. Wearing headphones and singing is weird, and for a couple of re-takes, I had to slip one side off to get the pitch right.
Debbie had been asking me all day what John Denver songs I sang, and for some reason thought I sang "Be back home again", but it's never been a part of my song list. In the end, we scrapped "Seven Spanish Angels, and added "Country Roads"!!
Considering I hadn't dusted that song off for quite some time, I was having trouble remembering he chords, especially through the bridge, so Mick stepped in and nailed it for me.
So looking forward to see how this comes across. I will update as I hear more.
