The body is now stained.
Started by one coat of black, sanded the top of and then applied a coat of black Japan stain.
It's very black, almost look like burnt wood with the aged appearance.
I like it!
Will be interesting to see what happens to the colour once finished with true oil...

In those shots the forward most tips of top & bottom horns look a bit lighter than the rest? If adding TO at this point it may make those lighter sections a shade of brown so if wanting to remain mostly black suggest a bit more stain. Maybe one more Japan Black all over just to be sure of an even coverage.

Otherwise I did a fret level and polish yesterday night and I polished the silver dots a bit. Starting to look like what I had in mind!

Have to agree with Pabs. Pale neck & fretboard will be a great strong contrast plus those custom shiny fret dots too.

They are stamped argentium, can get them in brass or even gold :-)
They supply metals for jewellery I think.
Got the brass plate for my IB5 from them before. Very fast service!

cheers Fred, so you could specify the diameter were they 6mm or 6.35mm (1/4") diameter ?
EDIT all good I saw on the website 6, 8, 10mm etc with varying thicknesses
