I must admit that I suffer from both GAS & BAS

Exhibit A:



The Wilkinson P90's sound great and other than a rather dry and slightly scratchy feeling neck that a light rub with 1200 or 1500 grit will fix not bad for the price. Even came with a bone nut. The paint actually has a bit of metal flake in it too. Action needs a slight tweak but plays good enough straight out of the box but suspect very light gauge strings which will be changed for 10-46's when doing a proper setup.

Will take some photos in natural light over the next week or so and try and capture the metallic finish.

What can I say? Yamaha are such underrated guitar & bass builders that it is almost a crime. Was looking for another fiver and whilst this wasn't the cheapest it stood out as sounding the best plus the typical reliability that comes with this brand. Massive chunky sound from the split P Pickup and fatter than a traditional P Bass. If there is any weakness it may be the bridge J Pickup on it's own but I haven't had time to do a proper setup on this one either. Sounds great on both PUP's too.

Will get around to taking proper photos on same day as the white one above.

Keen to hear your longer term thoughts on the Artist Grungemeister. I have considered one of these several times and actually really prefer the stop tail rather than a cheap tremelo. Price seems almost to good to be true.

good stuff Waz, both cool looking axes. Can't believe the Grungemaster is only $249 including shipping. The demo video sounded great !
Also the Yammy bass looks tasty.
My very first electric guitar was a white Yamaha RGX, wish I kept it.

PBG should seriously consider doing something like the Grungemaster as a completed axe for sale as stock with that other online retailer is always running out and you then end up on a watch notification list. I have had my eye on one for past 3 months or so and you can't build one for same price. It would have to be their 2nd biggest seller behind a cherry ES335 copy which is a steal at $299.

Mind you, I very nearly did go for one of these which could have solved my lack of a semi hollow body and P90 configuration in one kit...
