New member, 1st time build & some questions

Greetings to you all.
I've just acquired my first kit which which has an Ash body and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where I might get some Ash samples or off-cuts from to try out stain options. Alternatively, is there a local (i.e. readily available in Australia) timber which looks and behaves similar to Ash ?

Following a couple of leads I managed to get a piece of "American White Ash" (Fraxinus Americana) from Mathews Timber in Knoxfield. Not quite the same as "American Swamp Ash" (Fraxinus Pennsylvanica) but close enough for indicative stain behaviour

I think it will be closeish Raven. The Ash used in the kits are a darker fawn looking colour whereas American White Ash is a brilliant white with fawn coloured grain. The American White Ash is much denser and heavier than the ash in the kits, so I would think that the kit Ash is more porous and may in more take stain. I don't know for sure as yet because i haven't stained my American White Ash Tele
