Can I suggest that you offset the join of the mahogany body blank a bit so that the join line for both the cap and the main body aren't both right in the middle for increased structural integrity. I'd try and make it so that all-important neck join to bridge area on the mahogany is all on the same bit of wood, rather than have the glue join straight down the middle of the neck pocket. You'd also have the rear strap button screw going right through a glue line (unless you went non-symmetrical).

I've looked at a few of my guitars and none of them have a main body join that runs right through the middle. On the multi-piece bodies it's always one solid piece that runs right down the centre with one or more wing pieces.

So can I suggest maybe thinking about having a wide centre section with two thinner wings? Or at least getting some input from other scratchie builders here?

That makes sense. There's plenty of room to offset it. I could even rotate it so that it joins at an angle I suppose ... I'll do a bit of research on the subject which is great because I love watching the luthiers on YouTube and whatnot!! Few of the guys on there are really cool to learn from

Only just seen this build thread, looks very interesting. It is always a good idea to offset any glue joins if you can.

Ordered the gold SG kit hardware from Adam.

    https://www.pitbullguitars.com/shop/...-upgrade-gold/

Going to change out the pickups with the gold version of IronGear set I have on my LP kit (Dirty Torque/Blues Engine).

Will change out the knobs for a black set and harvest everything else for one of my other guitars, but it's a good enough start

    Nice design.

The neck looks like it's joining the body on the low E side at the 17th rather the the 16th fret as on the LP. Have you got plans to reshape the neck heel so that it's not square where it sticks out beyond the body?

Are you planning to screw the neck on (as it looks to be a bolt-on neck type) or glue it on? If screwing I'd be slightly wary of using a standard rear metal neck plate as the shorter neck/body contact area would probably put the rear screws very near the end of the neck. I'd be more tempted to use individual dished sockets.

Yeah it's a curved joint. It still joins at the bottom at the same location, but is curved around with the shape of the top curve. Have a look at the previous pics I posted of the template and you'll see what I mean. Had to keep the bottom the same so it butts up against the body in the regular fashion for gluing
