Anyone would think the Factory messed up and supplied Spalted Maple instead of Quilted Maple... a happy mistake:

Damn that spalted Tele would be nice with a SC route instead of the multipurpose one.

Actually all Tele's would be nice with that option so you could dump the pickguard for those with a figured top

Ahh, Phil and I were just saying the other day that we seems to be sitting on these for some time. This would explain it.
