I don't really know why, but I prefer a 4000 to a 4001. Don't ask.
Also, it's probably be more cost-effective to have just one pickup and not too difficult in the factory (one less pickup, rout - two less controls)

Simple answer for you ....... custom order but if you are wanting genuine Riccy style bridge pickup it may be best to rout that yourself than let the Chinese factory have their poor attempt at it. Plenty of used 4001 & 4003 bits for sale across the internet but genuine stuff tends to be quite pricey as the factory are reluctant to provide spare parts, particularly if not going into a genuine axe.

This is the exact kit I have custom ordered, an RC4 (w\mahogany body) with no routing, dot inlays and no binding. Allparts do a replica bridge that you can get fairly cheap as well. As it will take a while to arrive I am left pondering colour options. I am torn between Black with white pickguard, white with black pickguard or surf green with black pickguard....decisions, decisions...
Big fan of the 4000, it is the stripped down, no nonsense version of the Ricky.
All you would need was a new pickguard. That'll cover the rout for the front pickup.
