    SG crossed with Danelectro longhorn

There has been a bit of talk about original designs lately, and this one kind of came to me: a cross between a Gibson SG and a Danelectro Long horn. Instead of short little devil horns, they would be long and exaggerated:

Depending on hardware and finish it could be just as appealing to the metal crowd as rockabilly and surf rock enthusiasts.

Not that straight up Danelectro style kits would go astray either...

I wonder how Maton would feel if it was close to their elToro guitars & basses

Given the El Toro was a copy of the Longhorn, I'd say they'd be cool with it

Besides which, with only 56 El Toro guitars in existence, I reckon there'd even be Maton employees who have haven't heard of them.

Something like this or more like the hollow body? Its a bit odd as the horns add an extra 'wave' to the body shape, but it does look kinda cool.

I agree about the extra 'wave' thing, there wasn't one in my mental image. I pictured the horns a bit wider and with less of a bump either side of the neck pick up.

Solid or hollow? Hrmmmmmmmmmmmmm. To quote the girl in the taco add "why not have both?"

...and dear God that name!!!! If this were to be a Pitbull Guitar, it would have to be a Horndog.

Hah, this is true. Give me ten I'll see if I can make the shape you are describing.

Surprisingly difficult to combine those shapes. I've had another go. Might need to see a sketch of how you see it going together.

I feel a bit like that guy at the pub who just started talking crap to make conversation when suddenly a revolution/uprising forms around him based on his "ideals". I feel bad that you're going to the trouble of doing this from what was ultimately an absent minded "wouldn't it be cool if..."

That being said, it appears this thing may have some traction.

Not that the second image isn't awesome (possibly much better than what I had in mind), I was literally just thinking of the first image with slightly wider horns and a less pronounced front curve.

Hah, honestly, this is just fun for me. It takes me literally 15 mins to knock up something like this. To turn it into files for manufacture would be more work - but quick mockups are easy. Especially as i have a few different necks and knobs to just drop on.

I do this kind of thing for my job all the time. Not as fun as this though.
