To drill say post holes in a body, you need to move the body so that the post hole locations you've marked up are directly underneath the drill. If the post hole centres are greater than 104mm from the edge of the body, then you'll never be able to move the body to the right position under the drill. The body will hit the drill support post first before it's in position and you simply can't move the body in any way which will get the drill in the right spot.

So, you need a drill press with the chuck a longer distance away from the support post in order to drill post holes and through-body stringing holes. For a Tele, you'd need at least a 140mm 'throat' distance (from centre of chuck to the edge of the support post) in order to drill the string-through body holes. For a Les Paul style guitar, you'd need at least 130mm depth to drill the stop-bar support holes. Worst-case scenario I can think of would be something like a 335-style guitar body where you'd need around a 150mm throat to drill your own post holes.
