I got the multi meter.....the hand drills and the hand saws...little ones....already have a pack of files.

Then I found a router table discounted still sealed in the box.....and next to it the 1250watt router....snaffled them for half their listed price....just need the router bits now.

No airbrush.....thinking I may get the spray kit bit by bit...e.g. as Dave.King1 says above.

    Ha ha ha.

I didn't go until 10. Was still busy though....the Sunshine Cove store is bigger and layer out nice. I just wandered around and browsed the workzone stuff.

    I found the receipt today...router $49 router table $59......nice.

The air compressor was tiny....useless to me.

Local Caloundra one's layout is crap and stocked mainly with tins & packets in rows & rows with a center aisle with odd bits n pieces where you can fossick around to find some hidden bargain stuff. Can count on one hand how many times I have been there as not fussed on their product lines or customer buying experience. Catalogues do sometimes have some very tempting stuff I will admit.

The swing/throat on the drill press will probably limit its value, not deep enough for string-through holes. Just something to be aware of.

I don't understand what this issue is you warn of?

It goes up and down with a spin of the wheel.....and you can move the deck up and down to reduce or increase the gap between the drill bit and the wood.

I thought that to drill string through holes you would just adjust the deck height so the wood fits. Put a small drill bit in.....drill through.....flip over the wood and put a larger drill bit....depth marked....and drill the recess for the ferrules.

I don't understand why this drill press would not work? The body wood is 40 to 60 mm thick, surely it can move that far?

But there isn't enough distance from the upright to the drill bit to reach the bridge area for string-throughs. It would be ok for tuner holes and other holes that are closer to the edge of the wood.

Oh...so the distance or depth of wood you can push behind the drill bit is too skinny....bugger. Oh well.
