Interesting that the switch is between the tone and vol controls... works more like a mute circuit than a selector..

A search for 330k pots has been unsuccessful so far, however I can find Bourns 300k pots out of the US. Not sure if I want to spend the money

I think I'll try wiring it up as close as possible to the pdf without the stereo socket and see how that turns out. I'll probably use 500k pots on the HB side and 250k on the JB side. I have a Bourns 250k with pull switch so will try that as a bypass to short out C3.

Yes, a search for 330k audio taper pots brings up (for me) a whole list of shops selling Rickenbacker pots at around £15/(Aus$24) each, but not a lot else.

Allparts do a 300k CTS audio pot, and you can find that on the Realparts website for Aus$6.50 each - if you want to go a bit brighter than normal.

If and when I decide to go that way I can get Bourns 300k for AU$5.30 ea.

For the moment Simon, I think I'll hold on to my money and see how things turn out. Can always come back to it later...

A quick snapshot of the wired guard.

Same circuit as the pdf from Simon. 500k pots on the HB, 250k pots on the JB. Caps are both 0.068uF

The little red 2 pin connectors are from Jaycar. They are a bit fiddly to put together but the convenience is worth it.

nice wiring job Marcel. Good idea you can easily interchange pups with the connectors. What is the wire earthing the pots looks unshielded ?

It is unshielded Wokka.

Some years back I got a 0.5kg roll of 0.75mm tinned unshielded copper wire for projects I was working on back then. It's nice and solid single core that bends as directed, solders easily and is typically what I use when I want to run a light gauge earth bus bar in amps or guitars. It's perfect for solder bonding pots together.

I also have a roll of clear plastic tubing that I use to protect it (and other naked wires) where necessary... I used some on both the PU shields at the 2 pin connector...

Some sanding, a bit more of polishing.... and a little bit of gluing...

Don't Panic....There is a small pine block in the PU hole to spread the G-clamp pressure...

Thanks Waz... setting the neck is always a major step in any build.

Only disappointment is the flame isn't very photogenic.... Looks far better off camera than in any photos. And depending on the angle it is seen from the width of the flames do change quite dramatically which is real nice to play with when holding it...

Not regretting the Purple & Pink, but now with the clear all glossed up I'm thinking the typical Brown & Yellow combo might have had a far bigger and brighter visual impact... Though I can't change it now, and for now I have enough axes with Yellow ...
