    Bass Body Wanted.

    Hi Guys,
I'm thinking that I might try building a bit of a Mutt.
I have a Tom Anderson Neck that has been gathering dust for a long time.
Originally used to make my Fender Jazz Bass into a Fretless, but removed and the stock neck was replaced when I sold it. It was later Fretted and attached to an acoustic Body for a specific Gig. It worked OK but I don't use it anymore and have been tossing around the idea of building a Mutt with whatever body I can get my hands on.... I have almost enough other bits and pieces to complete the project.
It doesn't have to be a JB or even a PB, as long as I can get the Neck to fit, since the Headstock was modified to be 2 a side it will never look stock.....
All donations will be gratefully accepted, but cheap is good too.....
I would never join a club that would have a member like me.....

Don't know how it would go down in Tassie, but the best option I found was to try for an el-cheapo student discard.
Seems necks are expendable in the guitar world.
As there isn't a Fender style short scale bass kit available, I've ordered a short scale neck with a view to sourcing a body later.
As luck would have it I scored a used SX pbass copy from a pawnbroker for the princely sum of $60.
This means that all of the hardware can be used in the project until further possible upgrades.

Meanwhile my burgeoning guitar neck collection is flourishing.

    cheers, Mark.

Depending on how you are placed for equipment, you could alway do your own scratch built body. Robin does some. Amazing things with hand tools so you don't really need a full woodworking shop.
You could always PM or email Adam to see if he's got any orphans lurking in the warehouse.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

Certainly doesn't have to be perfect.....

You could always visit your local Crime Converters store or look on Gumtree for a cheapie and strip it back.

A quick look on eBay has a few options....

each instrument is different, everything about it from the worry dimension to the kind of timber in the body can certainly create it audio different and allow you to perform differently
