Headstock Decals arrived in the mail today. SO looking forward to getting them on there! But few things to do before I do that, so I'll again practice the art of patience ...

My build is almost over and I'm only a week or two from being totally finished ... it's been fun and I can't wait to post pics and sound clips for you all to enjoy ... but I've got the bug now, and with there not being an option to do another LP style single cut, I've ordered a maple neck and a mahogany body blank to craft my own unique design. I've been designing the shape in illustrator and am going to cut it all with minimal tools and by hand. I want this build to incorporate all the little nicks and I want to know every cut that goes into it. I don't care how long it'll take me. I'll kit it out slowly with every piece of hardware I've always wanted. Let the fun begin!!

So found a dude in WA that supplies exotic woods:

    http://thetimberbloke.com.au

Got a figured cap from him for a scratch build I'm attempting. Got the LP maple neck from PB, and sourced a mahogany body blank to cut my own shape from. The cap I'm adding is locally sourced Tuart and it looks cool. Haven't heard about anyone using it on a guitar before, but that's not going to stop me!! See how I go anyway!

    Wish me luck!

nice one Darryl. I've bought quite a bit off Derek the Timberbloke. Got a nice slab of ash from him from the wood show early August.
Bookmatched tuart cap looks great !
Will this be your first attempt at a scratch body ?

headstock looking great on the LP, is that timber edge faux pas edge ?
    Current Builds and status

Yeah first attempt. After hearing about the removal of the LP style, thought I'd have a crack at my own take on it in both a single cut and double cut version:

The headstock is just the wood showing through. I had a crack at white and thought about real binding, but I like wood so I'm happy with where it's at. Plus I can change it down the track if I feel like it.

Cheers. I wanted to get rid of a set of knobs too coz I never really use them. I usually have everything cranked and never really adjust the tone. Maybe it can have two volumes and no tones at all ... something to think about
