Bought a replacement keyboard for my laptop on eBay.

    Hey Everyone,

I decided to bite the bullet and buy a replacement keyboard for my Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop last night, reason being is that one of the keys on the original keyboard snapped in half, I tried gluing it back together with some super glue and although it worked, I found that the key wouldn't stay in place, try as I might I couldn't get the delicate plastic bits underneath the key to go back into place and then a part on one of the delicate bits broke off, , I tried gluing the key onto the rubber part underneath it with some more super glue but it is really flimsy, so I had no choice but to completely replace the keyboard assembly, fortunately I found one on eBay that didn't cost me much and it will hopefully arrive in the post sometime next fortnight, might even document the installation of the replacement keyboard in this thread with pics when it arrives, stay tuned!

Well if you're using it as a DAW machine, I'd suggest getting one that has a fair bit of CPU grunt in it, so go for one with at least either an i5 or i7 CPU in it, my Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop (that needs the replacement keyboard) has a 2Ghz Core i7 CPU in it and it came with a single 8Gb Ram stick installed in it and a 1Tb HDD and DVD R/W drive.

If you're getting it to record music on it you should also consider getting a good USB Audio Interface for it too, I've got a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface that I use with my Laptop, and it works well with Windows 10 64 Bit, you could also consider the Scarlett 18i8 too, which features more Mic/Line inputs.

And also consider getting an external HDD so that you can save all your sessions on it as well.

    Update:

Well the new keyboard had arrived in the post today so I went to the Winnellie Post office to pic it up, not long after i got back home I tried the new keyboard on the laptop to see if it would fit, since it was a test fit I didn't actually fully install it, anyway, it turned out to be practically a drop-in replacement for the original one, thank goodness, so I went ahead and installed the new keyboard after removing the original one, I'm typing this post on the laptop with it's new keyboard installed so you can see it is working perfectly.

Here's a pic of the laptop with it's new keyboard installed, you can see Holly my furry IT specialist having a good old slack in the background, she knows way more than I do about fixing computers....haha:
