FYI I put flatwound strings on mine - which I like on all my basses, but I also read somewhere that there a difference in the tension that can help in setup on the VI.

good score Deddy I just seen the VI you scored. Nice chunky strings you ordered should sound wicked ! 30 inch scale is almost short scale bass scale. I've only played 27 inch baritone with E string 0.068 and that sounds nice and chunky so the 0.084 will be super chunky

Not quite as thick as a set of regular light 34" which range from 45 - 100 but should sound good and have a bit of guitar flex in them if you feel inclined to do some bends.

Put the new pick guard, Pickup screws ( the previous owner seemed to own 1 screwdriver which fitted none of the screws on the axe) and strings on today. Woohoo! Thanks as always to Pabs for the excellent job on the clear pick guard. ( the art work is put on from the back)

yea it's the angle Wokka. There isn't much room but it's not close enough to be an issue. Those are the recommended fender string gauges. CHUNKY.

The previous owner had a weird mix of strings on it trying to make it a baritone and the E flopped around like a wet noodle. Nice and tight now.

I was only just looking at these online last night. New ones can be fetched for about $700 or thereabouts and some of the YT videos made things all the more tempting. Seems more of a cross over from Guitar to short scale Bass with traditional E to E tuning. The Andertons video was good and when he kicked in the Overdrive and drop D tuning it made some seriously wicked grunting noises. At first the whammy seemed out of place but subtle use seems to be the way to go as it looks to be plagued with the usual tremolo 'detuning' device syndrome if over used.
