HELP! I used cheap Chinese pot metal string through ferrules. I wanted to replace them with good quality nickel ferrules and well.....I broke them and can't get them out. Anyone got a solution?

You just need to drive them out from the other side.
You'll need a small punch or an appropriate sized nail as a drift pin. Since they're already stuffed, the pin/punch doesn't need to have a flat tip.

Yeah, small pin drift from T’other side is your best bet.

thanks heaps guys. I'll give that a go. Yes, I'll never use these again. Luckily the nickel replacements are bigger in diameter so if I had to drill them out I'd be okay.

Wow, did you use a crap tonne of superglue or something when you put them in?

I install mine with a tiny drop of PVA applied with a toothpick. They never come loose, but pop right out with a couple of light taps from the top if I need to remove them.

Hi McCreed. I don't usually use any glue to put them in. in fact I usually put a dab of wax to slide em in just in case I wanted to remove them. Normal ferrules have a ribbed side, but these cheaper ones did not. the metal is extremely weak now i have to wait until tomorrow to fix grrrrr
