A few tricks I have used to clean up bindings:

    1. Wipe over the binding with some metho on a rag. It gets rid of a lot of the colour but some scraping may be required.
    2. I recently found that micro mesh pads are great for cleaning up bindings. I star with a middle range grade then finish off with something finer.

    Hope it helps.

Well. After about 10 coats of Tung oil and plenty of time to dry between coats tomorrow I’ll start the wet sanding with Tung oil and use 1200 grit.

I really hope to get some nice depth to the top of this.
    Got a good feeling.........

    Hi Simon
That’s a good point so before doing anything to the headstock I’ve had a long look at it and decided to leAve it
The shape is all good. Just the holes a little out.

Quick question mate. Are you using polymerized Tung Oil?

Here’s a shot of the tin.

I hope that this will give you the finish you're after. If you only would use non-polymerized tungoil you wouldn't have any gloss...

    Hi Kick
The fine buffing oil gives a great shiny finish.
I used it on my Tele deluxe neck and was super happy with the results.
Pretty sure it will do the same on this build.
