    Thanks! I'll try.
For a first try it's bound for something to go wrong. Too bad it had to be the most eyecatching thing on the guitar.

Just wondering what colour the timber was underneath as maybe that would have looked good enough with your green stain unless of course you are now too far down the path of doing a solid midnight blue.

    Cheers, Waz
Yeah, I figured if I diluted the black stain more it wouldn't have sunk so deep in the woodgrain, making it easier to sand. But that's just guessing.

I haven't checked the timber underneath. I was bummed out, so immediately covered it up with primer.
But the green stain is still sitting on a shelf, waiting to be used.

The hardest thing for me was to figure out what kind of solid color I would use. I ordered my guitar with the gold hardware & the cream covers & in my opinion not every color works with that.

Haha! I thought of that as well! Making a new 'old beat-up' guitar!

I have the paintbooth at work all for myself today, so today I'm planning on spraying the midnightblue.
See how it turn out, can't be worse than the green, haha!

Agreed nailed the colour you were targeting almost perfectly

Thanks. I thought it was spot-on as well. That' why I was so bummed out I ruined the veneer.

Well, this weekend I got some result I was hoping for:

First I stained the mahagony back in a darker brown & protected it with 1 thin layer of clear.
You can still see the guitar in the primer-coats on the table:-)

And after a few paint-samples this turned out to be the color for the top:

On both pictures the paint is still wet, but I'm quite happy with it!
Now it's time to put on some more coats of clear & polish the crap out it.

Woah! Thijs, that looks incredible! I particularly love the back - that colour is so delicious, and sets off the binding really effectively.
