Interesting.....wondering how do you get the varying resistance across a set of PUP's?

    Cheers, Waz

Very true Simon, so does the size of the wire. 8k is a pretty low wind Waz. only gives me about 5.7 DCR with enamel coated 42 AWG wire but if I use 43 AWG it gives me about 7.63 DCR. The inductance is about the same, sits at about 2.5 H.

At a slow - medium speed it takes about 30 mins to wind 8k. but I try to stop every 1k to check the winds which takes longer.

Waz, imagine winding 7k then either breaking the wire or stuffing the spool!!!!! It happens a lot when you first start winding and it is the meaning of frustrating!!!!

Inventive thinking with the Crock-pot....I have one of those gathering dust in the back corner of the kitchen which I think has just found a new purpose in the shed.

You have different coloured 'blocks' that you melted down. What did you use?

So I tested out my wound puppies this arvo in a rudimentary style (no height set, setting up or intonation) and they easily sound as good as, if not slightly better than toneriders.....

To say I'm impressed with my bumbling efforts is an understatement.

I still have a lot to learn...but the fire of desire is stoked

You must have developed much patience and perseverance in the process.

@ Andy40 Cool pickup winding machine you built there, nice to see you getting into winding your own pickups, there's a guy I met in a different online forum, who lives in Christchurch New Zealand, and he's right into winding his own pickups, he built himself a Les Paul using some mahogany wood he scored from an old table that he bought for $2.00 or so, anyway, he went as far as actually winding a couple of Humbuckers especially for the Les Paul he built.
