dingo tone neck and body finish

Hi DB, I have stained and applied the colour intensifier, I am ready to go ahead with the final coats. One thing unclear from your very informative instruction videos is whether you use the body finish as well as neck finish on the neck?

You mention in the tutorial video briefly that the neck finish dries harder and smoother, is there an advantage in using neck finish as finish on the entire guitar?

The body and neck final coats are stand alone products.
Not to say you can't use the body stain and final coat on the neck......
Personally, I don't use the neck final coat on bodies as on a large area you can run into some issues with the finish ccuring too quickly.
This can lead to a gritty, dull finish and lots of bad language.

I've been waiting for DB to reply to this before I posted.

I have done exactly what DB has described and put a final neck on a body. I was young and curious.

It did not cure well at all over a large surface and I had to sand it off. tons on bad language.

Glad I am not the only one to find out the hard way that curiosity can lead to bad decisions resulting in bad language

Thanks for the timely tip! I was getting curious myself!!
So the stains and intensifiers are universal, it's just the final coats that are different?

You certainly can use the stain coat on necks.
No real need to use the intensifier part on Rock Maple necks but on Mahogany it is fine.

Sorry if you misunderstood DB, I have already used the stain coat and intensifier coat, over the entire body and neck, I just need confirmation as to whether to use the body final coat as well as the neck final coat on the neck, or do I omit the body final coat for the neck, just using the neck finish? I get what you say and wont use the neck final coat on the body at all.
